Isaac VALERO

Head of Unit for International Energy Relation – European Commission

Since June 2023, Isaac Valero has served as Head of Unit for International Relations at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy. Prior to this, Isaac served as the Policy Assistant to the European Commission Secretary-General working closely with the private office of the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Isaac also was the Diplomatic and Communications Adviser to the EU Climate Action and Energy Commissioner and the European Commission Spokesperson for Climate Action. Previously, he served as climate adviser in the Delegation of the European Union to Mexico in the run-up to the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP 16. Previously, he held other positions in the European Commission Directorate-General for Communication and for External Relations. Isaac Valero holds a Law Degree (L.LM) from the University of Zaragoza (Spain), a Master in European Law from the Royal Spanish Institute of European Studies (Spain), a Master in European Politics from the College of Europe (Belgium), a Master in Corporate Communication and Public Affairs from the Robert Gordon University (UK), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Climate Change from Harvard University (USA).
